The popularity of domestic cat has grown to gigantic proportions.

Indifferent and inattentive attitude to domestic animals, prolonged absence of owners at home, heartless attitude to them lead to errant way of life for these animals. They find shelter from bad weather in a variety of places: attics, basements, i.e. in warm places. They find their food themselves, and their number is increasing. Some homeless animals, especially in rural areas, run into the forest to run wild and become anger. They are subject to capture as they can serve as a source of dangerous diseases.

Apart from home and stray cats there real wild cats exist. They can be found in all continents and major islands except Australia, New Guinea, Antarctica, Greenland and Madagascar. Most of them live in the tropics. Their way of life is primarily twilight and night. Their main food is mammals, reptiles, insects, birds and fish. Though wild cats do not represent a special danger to humans, but can be the carriers of diseases common to them and humans.

Domestic cat differs from the wild by the form of muzzle, skeleton size and digestive system.

Cats are useful animals. Once they were indispensable in the fight against harmful rodents, but with the invention of toxic drugs and sophisticated traps cats gradually began to lose their importance as fighters of rats and mice. Though such their qualities as willingness to hunt, reliability and harmlessness to humans even now are useful for people especially in rural areas, as guards at the warehouses of grain and food.

Cats are devoted animals. A reasonable attitude to them arouses the need to be attached to humans in them. Their feelings to humans often can be stronger than their attachment to housing, home and court. The celebrated cat's striving to loneliness and independence only apparently contradicts to its distinct identity and attachment to human beings.

Cats are loving animals. They respond tenderly to attention by their complaisant movements. They fill hours of solitude by cheerless mewing.

Cats are cleanly animals. They have innate and strong instinct to bury their excreta in a particular place, and it makes them quite acceptable tenants. The habit to maintain purity of the body makes them clean themselves all the time. Thus, it is easy to take care of them.

Cats are relatively modest animals. Of course, they need concern and care, but it costs much lower than looking after dogs.

Cats are highly developed mentally and "intelligent" mammals. They are marked by excellent observation skills and the ability to train. It is necessary in their life together with people.

Cats are beautiful animals. Along with our domestic cats, systematic breeding of new races plays an important. Even the most ordinary domestic cat without kith or kin, celebrated ancestors has its own unique beauty. Brilliant silky hair, big expressive eyes, graceful motion, strength and temperament, combined with plasticity. All cats have these features and you can't but admire them. For the centuries of domestication cats managed to retain the characteristics and peculiarities of their wild ancestors.
