"Social" behaviour

Attitude towards congeners. A cat with its distinct personality is not a social animal. Close contact with congeners occur only during the pairing between the two sexes, and between mother and kitten during the progeny breeding. Though, sometimes friendly relations between cats last for a long time, but they are rare.

In general, for cats life in the wild is life solo. It walks alone in search of food, for hunting; satisfy their needs in play, wash, have a rest and sleep alone, too. Herd feeling is alien to cats.

But cats are forced to adapt to the surrounding environment. Thus "social" relations between various cats, between cat and other animals, between cat and human beings can occur.

"Social" behaviour on a limited space. If cats are kept on a limited area, i.e. in a house, apartment or room, they are naturally deprived of important living conditions. They are fettered in many aspects, many peculiarities of conduct lose their original value, and some of them are in contradiction with the rules of living together with people.

Meeting with wild creates other problems than those that remain at large in nature. If in an enclosed space it comes to relationships with cats-strangers, it manifests individual attitude to wild cats. Unknown location in each animal breeds desire to survey the territory, to overcome uncertainty.

While meeting each other only one cat knows the terrain, the second will not be able to survey the territory calmly. The more accustomed cat prevent from doing it, showing its superiority. If the territory is unknown to both cats, they will at first examine the territory and then start private contacts.
