Cats can predict the future

For predicting the future and determining the will of the gods, people used animals from ancient times. They served as oracles, giving their affirmative or negative answers by their movements.

The cat was considered a special animal capable to anticipate the future. Cats' behaviour was observed attentively and interpreted and thus they could predict upcoming events.

According to popular belief, cats feel all sorts of changes, good and bad. Some people say that watching the behaviour of cats, you can predict the weather, guests, impending illness or misfortune. Cats have always been associated with the supernatural, and cat's eyes are called "windows to the other side". Here are only a few omens connected with cats:

1. The cat is drowned in sleep or its belly is above while sleeping means coming of heat.

2. The cat sleeps with its muzzle under the belly means coming of bad or cold weather.

3. The cat rolls itself up into a ball means coming of frost.

4. The cat spreads the tail or licks it means coming of blizzards.

5. The cat licks its tail and hides its head means coming of rain.

6. The cat licks its leg or washed means coming of sunny weather.

7. The cat licks its skin means coming of rain.

8. The cat scratches the wall means coming of to wind.

9. The cat scratches the floor means coming of wind.

10 When the cat sneezes it means coming of rain.

Many old sailors still believe that cats on board are able to bring good luck and predict stormy weather.
